Bhaba Pass is one of the best crossover treks in the Himachal Pradesh region. The high-altitude mountain pass-crossings over the Bhaba and Pin valleys at 16,105 feet is an experience of a lifetime. From the highest point of the pass, you get to enjoy a panoramic 180° view of the Bhaba and Pin valleys. This fascinating trek features some of the most dramatic shifts in landscapes and cultures. The trail starts from the lush grasslands of Kinnaur and leads up to the desolate mountain ranges of Spiti valley. Pin Bhaba Pass is classified as a moderate-difficult trek. It is a strenuous hike up and down two starkly different mountain valleys. It requires high levels of fitness, endurance, and skill to accomplish this task. Mt Kanamo, situated near to Kibber is one of the holiest mountains in Spiti. The mountain is covered with snow from one side. The mountain represents a white lady representing peace. This peak towers 5964m above sea level.

Day 1

Early morning meet at decided location in Shimla. Drive from Shimla – Kafnu

All the participants will have to report at a common point in Shimla. After breakfast we will continue with a ride to Kafnu. Overnight stay in hotel at Kafnu.

Day 2

After breakfast the trek starts through a village and forest area following the Wanger River. The route is heavily forested with pine, cedar and birch. After a few hours of steep climb the path gradually ascends to the campsite, a lush green meadow on the banks of the River Bhaba. Overnight at Mulling campsite.

Day 3

Trek from Mulling (3,100m) – Kara (3,550m)- Phustirang/Bhaba base (4,000m) (7-8hrs)

After breakfast we start for the base of Bhaba Pass. The trek today involves many activities like river crossing, simple walks and a gradual ascent. The valley becomes more green and forested. Continue walking further to the open flat ground and camp there for overnight stay.

Day 4

Trek from Phustirang/Bhaba base (4,000m) – Bhabha Pass (4,850m) – Baldar (3,900m) (6-7hrs)

Today the first three hours is a steep climb to the top of the Bhaba Pass at an altitude of approximately 4,865mts. After reaching this height the trek continues to enter into the Spiti Valley. The trek is a steep descent through the moraines and snow/ice patches Overnight camp at Baldar camps.

Day 5

Trek from Baldar (3,900m) – Mudh (3,740m). Drive from Mud – Kaza (3,800m) (2hrs)

Drive to Kibber via Ki-gompa monastery and Chicham. Aclimitization walk in Kibber.”]We will start the day with a jeep ride to Kibber via Ki-Gompa monastery. At an altitude of 4,166 meters Ki- gompa, is the biggest monastery of Spiti Valley and a religious training centre for Lamas. It reportedly had 100 monks in 1855. We will end the jeep ride at Kibber village. Located 16 kms from Kaza, Kibber lies in a narrow valley on the summit of a limestone rock. Agriculture forms the backbone of the local economy and lush green fields are abundant. Overnight at Kibber village.

Day 6

Trek from Baldar (3,900m) – Mudh (3,740m)- Drive from Mud – Kaza (3,800m) (2hrs)

Drive to Kibber via Ki-gompa monastery and Chicham. Aclimitization walk in Kibber.”]We will start the day with a jeep ride to Kibber via Ki-Gompa monastery. Day 7

After breakfast and packed lunch we will start our trek to Mt. Kanamo base camp. The entire route goes through a cold and dry desert kind of area with few green patches. There are no water sources on the way. One can find blue sheep, yak and flowers of the cold desert. Although the ascend is less but since its dry, it becomes difficult. It takes around 6 hours to reach to the camp site. Overnight in tents.

Day 8

Climb to Mt. Kanamo peak (5,964 meters)

Descend to base camp. Duration: 12 hours.”]We will start the day early with breakfast and packed lunch. One should carry a minimum of 2-3 liters of water. Glucon D and ORS is recommended against dehydration. We will start the trek at 4 AM so that we can cover the maximum part of the climb before the sun gets overhead. The route has got two steep ascends before reaching the summit. Each of the climb will take an average of 2-3 hours each. The exact height of the peak is 5,964 meters. The descend takes around 4 hours for the base camp. Overnight in tents at base camp.

Day 9

Descend to Kibber after brunch. Overnight at Kibber home stay)

We will start the day with a heavy breakfast for Kibber village. The descend to Kibber from base camp takes around 3 hours. Overnight at Kibber home stay.

Day 10

Drive to Rumsu base camp

Jeep ride to Rumsu base camp.

Day 11

Departure to Manali from Rumsu.

Departure after breakfast for Manali bus stand.
